Musings

Unperturbed I trudge old and gray
Rife with wisdom to point the way
I think of Mother with her bead
Charging her children to succeed
And Dad who would encounter all
Family first in times of pall
Now I find my adventure near
And wonder why to persevere
The past is done and joined at best
With regrets and gains put to rest
Glancing back to mood molding years
I treasure both my highs and tears

I hear the songs of yesteryear
The many tunes of joy and fear
At dawn's first light the end is born
The course for life is hope or scorn
Who does not muse what really should
Or sadly learns it never would
And still beneath each piercing light
A manner learned to do what's right
Perhaps a spirit carved for you
To love and love and love so true
Trust fate to tend this love so strong
Graced by providence to prolong

The way is far yet near for some
Life's travails end for everyone
No longer fresh to steer the day
Your voyage toils now spent away
Is there one to prevail in place
Or must a stranger find the trace
Grieve the soul when a line is shed
What has been wrought is only read
At most avoid this destiny
Chartered for some to never be
Chance your will with your self-esteem
Rrach for rainbows and find your dream
