She is a friend to keep in store
Just like the learned man next door
Just like the neighbor down the street
Just like the friends at social treat
A friend is one who counts on you
To soothe deep hurts when times are blue
With every thought that's good for you
Remaining faithful just and true
Friends are friends of similar mind
One morphs from friend to mate in kind
A mate of conscience and of soul
A part of you to always hold
A mate becomes a friend apart
To whom you open wide your heart
To whom you bare your very soul
And show your root from pit to pole
The cherished gift God can bestow
A friend who is your mate to know
A mate to share your every glow
And never cease to grow and grow
