Apocalypse

I met a man who always thought
The worst was born for him
He lived each day in certitude
That night would do him in
His Gods unkind at every turn
Would tear his heart apart
The darkest of the brightest glow
Would stalk his every start

When forms are fit and made to work
And all in proper place
A minor tilt of any piece
Would jolt his play abase
Oh! here again his God's at work
It's blackness all day long
The minutes go and hours fly
And all is woebegone

What gives the heart a gentle nudge
To face calamity
To meet each stand with all your might
And not with brevity
Condemn the soul that troubles thee
And gives a signal wrong
Your path through life is sure to be
A storm of varied song

The demons dance at every prance
To thwart the positive
The fault is with the shadows drawn
Long may they never live
To escape this fate at your gate
And worry free to be
Is asking for a miracle
Without the fashioned key

When troubles flare in every glare
And ends will cease to come
March on with all your dignity
In step to your own drum
Be confident as you reach out
God's gifts will surely light
Success is bound to follow you
Apparent in His sight
